Hello, and happy March!
There’s, like, two feet of snow on the ground here, and it’s still going to be snowing for a while yet, so I’m not thinking much of spring yet. But I think we’re past our harshest cold snaps! I hope!
I’m very excited to talk about the project I’ve been working on since January. It TOTALLY messed up my other publishing plans, but once I conceived of this novella’s concept, I knew it had to be the next project I released.
Colby Lankford-Hall never worries about what he really wants in life. Dreams are a luxury for a retail worker who needs to worry about getting the bills paid, and his hectic life suits him just fine. One day, a woman will see past his short frame, low wages, and his tendency to be late for everything. Yeah, he wants a girlfriend! Doesn’t he…?
Everything he thought he knew about himself changes when he meets Zed. Tall and sparkly, Zed looks like he stepped out of a dream. His blunt invitation to sleep together is too tempting to pass, and kissing the sweet man makes Colby long to be someone more worthy of such affection.
His wish unexpectedly comes true when the pair wake up inside each other’s bodies, forcing Zed to reveal his identity as a dream eater demon. With no immediate way to swap back, Colby has to learn how to live as a dream eater and prevent the demon inside his body from getting him fired. But the more time Colby spends away from his usual chaotic life, the more he realizes he has dreams—and they involve a certain gorgeous demon.
The Demon Inside Me arrives March 24! Preorder on Amazon now!
Working on The Demon Inside Me was super fun and felt a bit like a fever dream—fitting for a story about dreams and dream eating demons.
This is a bit of a departure from the other novellas in the series, but I really do think I’ve written everything I wanted to at this time about single parents. Fear not! There is an adorable demon child in this novella. Almos is Zed’s younger brother, and he’s most likely the only one among the characters who understands why Colby and Zed swapped bodies. Is he going to tell them? No. They gotta figure that out themselves.
Writing this “coming out” story was fun because I did my best to make it clear to readers that many people in Colby’s life already know he’s gay and support him…but Colby is the only one who hasn’t quite connected the dots. This isn’t a book about figuring out one’s sexuality “too late” in life (I do not believe it is ever too late to learn things about yourself). It’s a story about how sometimes we’re too busy to really take time to think about what we want or desire in life. The things we can learn with proper rest and self-reflection can be truly surprising.
I really hope you enjoy The Demon Inside Me!
Another cover reveal?
This is the novella I thought would be the next entry in the Loved by the Demon series, but for various reasons, I thought The Demon Inside Me should go first. This one was written back in October/November!
Please look forward to this f/f paranormal romance novella in early May! Second Chance with the Demon was another total delight to write—ice queen game developer reconnects with her fiery demon ex-girlfriend after nearly two decades apart. Can they pick up right where they left off? Absolutely not! But things will work out. ;)
