For some back story on this short story… I ran a preorder campaign on Twitter for all of January with some fairly lofty goals. Releasing books has been really hard on me the last year, so I decided to make my preorder goals public on Twitter so I wouldn’t be allowed to spend release day thinking I failed if I hit all three milestones I wanted.
This is a prescheduled newsletter, so as of this writing, I have hit two out of three milestones and am 89% complete on the third one. But I hit the 80% mark Wednesday morning with the help of some wonderful friends, and I realized that I feel like I’ve already succeeded with this release.
I can’t say for sure if January 28 me will spending all day happy and relaxed, but I do very much believe I won’t be beating myself up. I think for the last year, I have felt very alone. There’s been a lot of friendship breakups and I left some writing groups that I no longer felt comfortable in.
But a lot of friends, readers, and fellow authors really showed up for me this month when I put my vulnerable heart on display and asked for help with meeting my goals. I wanted to thank everyone for contributing to the campaign, so I spent Wednesday writing a bonus epilogue for Match with The Demon and have made it free for anyone to download.
